GRIDS hosted an exhilarating Prof Talk featuring esteemed speaker Dr. Chris Mattmann, renowned for his expertise in space exploration and NASA data. The event, held online on April 30, 2024, captivated attendees with insights into unlocking the potential of NASA data to drive innovation and discovery in space exploration.

Dr. Chris Mattmann's engaging presentation provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the power of NASA data and its implications for space exploration. Participants were enthralled by Dr. Mattmann's expertise and passion for the subject, which shone through in his illuminating discussion.

The Industry Talk with Deloitte, presented by Advaita Chandramohan, Business Technology Solutions Analyst, provided USC Viterbi students with invaluable insights into the recruitment process at Deloitte. The online session attracted a diverse audience eager to learn about securing offers at Deloitte.

The workshop provided an immersive experience into the realm of merging technology and medicine. Attended by a diverse group of USC students, ranging from aspiring healthcare professionals to data enthusiasts, the event commenced promptly at 6:00 PM.

Through a series of engaging activities, participants delved into hands-on exercises designed to deepen their understanding and skills. Real-world medical datasets and case studies were explored, allowing attendees to contextualize theoretical knowledge into practical applications.

GRIDS Social Night, held on April 10th, 2024, provided an engaging platform for students to connect and explore the latest trends in data science. Hosted at THH 201, the event welcomed students from diverse backgrounds, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of learning and collaboration.

Attendees indulged in an array of activities, including networking sessions, interactive discussions, and insightful presentations. Industry collaborators and USC professors shared their expertise, offering valuable insights into advancements in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data visualization.

The Social night was a fun and exciting event for everyone! It was an opportunity to meet new people, socialize with other people interested in data science, and play a game of 4 pictures one word. The game is a fun and engaging way to test one's creativity and vocabulary skills by guessing the word that is common to all four pictures.

What a way to to start the new semester! Thank you to everyone who attended our kickoff event for the Spring 2020 semester. We had 20 projects pitched by faculty members from across different schools at USC to an equally diverse audience of over 150 students. We’re very excited about all the project ideas and can’t wait to see the work all of you do in them over the course of this semester!

Thank you to everyone who made it out to the CKIDS/GRIDS Fall 2019 Project Presentations. We are especially proud of all the great work the teams put in on their projects and accompanying presentations and posters! The event was attended by numerous students and faculty from different schools at USC, all of whom were highly impressed by the quality of work they saw.

At our Fall 2019 Kickoff meeting we announced that GRIDS was trying something different this year - namely, we would be partnering with the USC Center for Knowledge-Powered Interdisciplinary Data Science (CKIDS), headed by Dr. Yolanda Gil, to work on faculty-led projects ranging from studying video game communities to Catalina Island coastlines. GRIDSters excitedly listened to project descriptions delivered by USC researchers and signed up for the ones that interested them most. These projects, along with our traditional student-led projects, will make this our best semester yet!

What a way to to start the new year - it was standing-room-only at our kickoff event for Fall 2019. New and returning students from a variety of academic backgrounds came to learn how they can pursue and refine their passion for data science by joining GRIDS. We are excited to work and learn with you this semester!
